Why was my episode removed?
Generally, an episode on WEBTOON may be removed if it violates our Community Policy in any way. When your episode is removed from WEBTOOON, you should receive an e-mail from our Creator Support team that tells you the guideline that your episode broke.
In order to understand why your episode may have been removed, and for advice on how to properly revise your episode, please reference the explanations below:
My episode was removed for Nudity
An episode on WEBTOON may be removed due to nudity if there is any partial or full nudity within the episode. As a general rule of thumb, the pelvic, rear, and breast regions must be covered up in order for an episode to be appropriate.
If the nudity in an episode is censored with a box, blurring, or any other “non-natural” type of censorship, it may be subject to removal.
To fix episodes that have been removed for nudity, we generally recommend the following:
- If the episode contains partial or full nudity, implement strategic censoring to cover up the nudity. We generally recommend strategically censoring nudity with a natural part of the episodes environment.
- If the episode contains partial or full nudity, add more clothing to the characters in order to ensure that the nudity is properly covered up.
My episode was removed for Violence
An episode on WEBTOON may be removed due to violence if the episode contains excessive, brutal, or graphic depictions of violence. As a rule of thumb, episodes should not contain any violence that is heavily detailed, brutal, or extended in nature.
If the violence in an episode is censored with blurring, mosaic-censoring, box censoring, or any other “non-natural” form of censorship, it may be subject to removal.
To fix episodes that have been removed for violence, we generally recommend the following:
- If an act of violence takes place across multiple panels, we would recommend limiting the depiction of violence to a single panel.
- If the violence in the episode contains an excessive amount of blood or blood splatter, we recommend lessening the overall amount of blood.
- If the violence is excessive or brutal, we would recommend strategically censoring the violence with a natural part of the episodes environment.
My episode was removed for Explicit Sexual Content
An episode on WEBTOON may be removed due to explicit sexual content if the episode contains explicit sexual dialogue, sexualized framing, a depiction of a sexual act, groping of sexual body parts, or excessive sexual dialogue. As a rule of thumb, we do not allow content that is intended to be sexually gratifying, or content that is heavily sexual in nature.
To fix episodes that have been removed for explicit sexual content, we generally recommend the following:
- If the episode contains a depiction of a sexual act, we recommend making the depiction more ambiguous and ensuring that there is a low level of detail.
- If the episode contains explicit sexual dialogue, we recommend editing the dialogue to remove any direct references to sexual activity.
My episode was removed for Copyright or Trademark Infringement
An episode on WEBTOON may be removed for Copyright or Trademark Infringement if it infringes on copyrighted content or trademarks in any way. Direct copies of copyrighted material are strictly prohibited, and episodes that contain clear depictions of copyrighted or trademarked characters may be subject to removal.
To fix episodes that have been removed for Copyright or Trademark Infringement, we generally recommend the following:
- If the episode contains a direct copy of copyrighted work, remove the copyrighted work from the episode.
- If the episode contains a clear depiction of a copyrighted or trademarked character, revise the episode to make your character distinct from the copyrighted character.
My episode was removed for Spam or Advertising
An episode on WEBTOON may be removed due to Spam or Advertising if the content exists solely to promote a product, or if the content has no clear narrative, purpose, or original artwork. As a rule of thumb, we do not allow content that is comprised solely of memes, content that contains no original work, or content that is centered around advertising and promoting a product.
To fix episodes that have been removed for Spam and Advertising, we generally recommend the following:
- If the episode is centered around promoting another product, remove the advertisement from the episode.

An episode on WEBTOON may be removed due to Hate Speech if the content has the primary purpose of inciting hate towards individuals or groups based on race, ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, political orientation, etc. As a rule of thumb, we do not allow content that exists primarily to incite hatred against other groups.
To fix episodes that have been removed for Hate Speech, we generally recommend the following:
- If the episode attempts to incite hatred against another individual or group, remove the content that contains the incitement.
- If the episode uses a hate symbol in an improper, contextually unnecessary way, remove the hate symbol from the episode.
My episode was removed for Dangerous or Illegal Content

My episode was removed for Unsuitable Content
An episode on WEBTOON may be removed due to Unsuitable Content if the content is generally inappropriate for our platform. As a rule of thumb, we do not allow thematically inappropriate content involving incest, grooming, or age-gaps.
In the event that your episode contains inappropriate censorship, such as mosaic or blurred censoring, your episode may be removed for Unsuitable Content.
To fix episodes that have been removed for Unsuitable Content, we generally recommend the following:
- If the episode was removed due to being thematically inappropriate, revise the episode to remove the unsuitable themes.
- If the episode was removed due to containing unsuitable censorship (ie: mosaic censoring, box censoring), replace the censorship in the episode with something more appropriate.
